SaveArtSpace is pleased to present Art on TV 2 a public art exhibition on television commercial ad space in New York City. Curated by Very Ape. The selected artist is Allison Tanenhaus! The artwork will be on view on local New York cable TV stations starting March 15 for one week.

Allison Tanenhaus is a New York–born, Boston–based digital glitch artist who specializes in abstract geometrics, kaleidoscopic color fields, trippy op art, mind-bending motion, thought-provoking truisms, and unexpected dimensional qualities. She creates psychedelic music videos, GIFs, prints, branding, video installations, and large-scale projections.

Allison’s source material consists of her original works (cellphone pics, word art, previous pieces) and vintage artifacts that she alters via smartphone. Made with equal parts deliberation and experimentation, the results are rainbow-hued compositions that take on a psychedelic life of their own.

At a time when personal data is culled and exploited on every platform, she views reclaiming files and devices for purely artistic purposes as a radical act of creative autonomy and expression that—through her hypnotic presentations—promotes mindfulness and unity.

Installation and commission highlights include the ICA Store at the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston, New England Synth Fest, Harvard Graduate School of Design, Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, and “GlitchKraft: Allison Tanenhaus + Friends” at Emerson Contemporary.

Allison is a 2019 recipient of a Somerville Visual Art Fellowship; frequently creates music videos and album art for electronic musicians The Square Root of Negative Two, Maria Finkelmeier, and Doug Bielmeier; collaborates with musician and glitch artist Sam Correa, pop-culture portraitist Alex Kittle, and teams up with light artist Ben K. Foley as the optical installation duo bent/haus.
